Cormac Cullinan to Present Course on the Rights of Nature at UCT Summer School
Cormac Cullinan, environmental lawyer and author of Wild Law, will be presenting a course, titled “Using Law to Protect Earth: From Environmental Law to the Rights of Nature”, during the UCT Summer School programme, which is run by the Centre for Open Learning. The programme offers a variety of courses during two weeks in summer, 2013 programme running from 21 January to 1 February.
Cullinan will be co-presenting along with his Cullinan and Associates colleague Gregory Daniels. Cullinan’s lecture is titled “Rights of nature: a foundation for building Earth democracy and sustainable communities”, while Daniels will be speaking on “Litigating to protect Earth: the promise and reality of South environmental law”.
The course will take place on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 January at 7:30PM. The full cost of the course is R140, but UCT staff can attend for R70 and students need only pay R35. Registration is now open and will be processed on a first-come first-served basis.
