About the authors
Barney Jordaan holds a BA LLB and a doctorate in law from Stellenbosch University and is an attorney. He is an extra-ordinary professor at the Stellenbosch University’s Graduate School of Business where he teaches on the MBA, management development and employment relations programmes. He is also an associate of its USB-ED Ltd and director of the University of Stellenbosch’s Africa Centre for Dispute Settlement. Barney also lectures at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business. He is a senior mediator and arbitrator and is a well-known author on labour law. He now specialises in labour law and industrial relations with Maserumule Employment Consultancy (Pty) Ltd, in association with Maserumule Inc Attorneys.
Ulrich Stander holds a BA LLB and LLM and is an admitted advocate. In 1991 he completed the Industrial Relations Development Programme (IRDP) at the Stellenbosch Graduate School of Business, receiving the director’s award. After working for some time in a senior legal position for a large life insurance company, where he also co-founded its industrial relations department, he commenced practice as an employment law and employment relations specialist. He has participated in various training sessions on the Harvard Law School Negotiation Programme. Ulrich was a lecturer in employment relations and employment law at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and still acts as external moderator. He occasionally presents guest lectures on employment law and employee relations programmes at the Stellenbosch University Graduate School of Business. He is currently with Maserumule Employment Consultancy (Pty) Ltd, in association with Maserumule Inc Attorneys.
